Why we consider that our course is UNIQUE?
What we are offering?
What the others are offering?
What others are offering?
When I planned to start my course I did some research into the Arabic language courses already on the market and was disappointed with what I discovered.
After seeing an advert in the paper one day I called up one of these institutes offering special Arabic courses where they claim you can master the language in a very short time. I asked to be put through to the Arabic language in charge and was informed that the person in charge was not an Arab. I then asked if they were teaching spoken Arabic or classical Arabic; he kept quiet for a second and then said, "What is the difference? We are teaching Arabic that is all ". It was then hung up the phone in disappointment...
You would expect someone opening an institute without knowing the difference between spoken Arabic and classical Arabic; I would consider it a crime if they do not. After all, the students trust you – your tutor, they pay their money expecting to learn the Arabic language. It is unfair to misguide them and waste their time and money.
I made the following observations during my research:
Firstly, these courses tend to rely on memorization of phrases to be used in certain situations rather than teaching the student how to construct his own sentences and phrases from what he has been taught. Certain students will keep memorizing these phrases week after week without any command over the language until capacity is reached, they collapse, become fed up and even leave the course (loosing their money) looking for something better. These are stories I have heard from quite a number of my current students.
Secondly, the students are expected to have studied the Arabic scripts before joining the course - OK, no harm in doing that - but nobody will benefit from this unless they study it for a length of time. These students dreaming of speaking the language in just a short period of time end up realizing that this is often not the case, and in the process find that they have wasted both their money and their time.
Thirdly, I have noticed that they are only teaching one dialect. As you know we have several colloquial styles and the dialect varies from country to country. In my opinion, this is the biggest weak point in the courses I have seen.
With all this in mind, we rose to the challenge of offering my Arabic language classes and I have achieved unbelievable success in a very short space of time. All my students are happy and exited and have referred and recommended the program to their colleagues and friends. The most exiting news is that I have started getting inquiries and demand form companies and groups in the UK and the United States . This just gives you idea of the quality we are offering.
What I am offering?
What I'm doing is something different. It is a unique program of spoken Arabic used across the entire region.
We explain to the student from the first day, the difference between standard classical Arabic and spoken Arabic and will help them to choose the best according to their needs.
- We are not teaching a specific dialect but are instead teaching the most used words in the Arab world, meaning that after finishing the course with us students will be able to speak the language, and be understood, in any Arab country in which they find themselves.
- We never ask students to memorize phrases; instead, we teach them and train them how to think in Arabic, we give them the proper tools and guidance to think for themselves. In a very short time, every student will be able to make their own sentences the way they want to.
- Knowing Arabic script is not compulsory to join our course.
- We give students a good 5 week introduction to it(optional)
- Classes are conducted in very friendly and encouraging environment. Student is given the chance to practice and use the language.
I can guarantee to anyone, even those with no knowledge of Arabic language, that they will be able to deliver a speech lasting between 20 and 30 minutes in front of their fellow students after studying with me for just 4 weeks.
I was happy and surprised when one student came to me and said that she had studied for one year at 'X' famous institute, after assessing I was surprised to learn that her level was no higher than that of one of our students who has studied only 3 months with me. This is a great achievement; however, the focus is not on how quickly the students can learn Arabic. It is about training their minds to think in Arabic and giving them the tools to really have a command over the language so they can use it the way they want to. |
